Matthew’s Café Special Day of Prayer and Fasting
Join with us today as we seek the Lord as one body.
Join with us today as we seek the Lord as one body.
You might be saying, “I get praying together, but why fasting?” Our desire is that all of us would go deeper in our relationship with the Lord. Fasting is way in which to do that.
- Fasting was an expected “discipline” in both the Old and New Testament. Jesus expected it from us. He said in Matthew 6:16 “When you fast” not if you fast.
- Fasting is a way to truly humble ourselves before God. David said “I humble myself through fasting” (Ps 35:13).
- It is also a way to see how God wants to provide for and direct us. Ezra 8:21 says Then I proclaimed there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possession.
- I believe fasting allows the Holy Spirit to do a greater work in our hearts and bring about greater transformation in our lives.
In your time of prayer:
- Worship the Lord for He is worthy to be praised.
- Ask that He show you anything specific that he wants to do in your life.
- Pray for your brothers and sisters at Matthew’s Café. Ask that He would strengthen and protect us and cause us all to grow deeper in Him.
- Pray for God to provide for the Café financially and ask if He has anything specific to show you regarding that.
- Pray for wisdom and direction for the Leadership Team for some key decisions that are before us.
- LISTEN. Don’t do all the talking. God wants to speak to you.
Thank you for loving the body of Christ and praying with us.
