One of the key updates this month is the new roles that Terry and Jayson will now play at the Cafe.


Terry and Jayson are now both supported by the Cafe to assist the Leadership Team with giving direction and care to the body at Matthew's Cafe.

Jayson's role... He and Terry will now split the teaching on Saturday nights. Jayson will also give help to the day-to-day needs of the Cafe, rebuilding the infra-structure, caring for the various ministries and the needs of the leaders, helping to re-deploy people to the various ministries.

Terry's role... along with his Teaching on Saturday which he now shares with Jayson... Terry still will continue to give input to the big-picture vision and direction to the Cafe, and help cast that vision to the body.
Something NEW: He will now spend time mentoring and coaching the development of our leaders, along with helping identify emerging leaders and help them find their fit in the body... he will lead a mentoring group that will teach our body what he teaches to others around the world.

MISSION Clarified!
The Leadership Team has recognized the need to rebuild the foundation of the Cafe.
Without a solid base, it is difficult to truly rebuild. It is a longer route, but a necessary step. Statements of Mission help clarify WHY WE EXIST as a church. A clarified a statement of MISSION will be presented to the Ministry Leaders at the Potluck on Sept. 8th at 4:00pm.

Yeah... but what About a New Home?

We recognize that this remains THE NO. 1 question for most... what will be the future of the Cafe? It's not that this question is not important, or does need to be addressed. But God has spoken deeply to the Leadership Team that vision drove us before, to the point of becoming confused or blurred about our MISSION.

The Future's Team is right now looking at New Venue Options!
The team consists of the Herzoffs, Grahams, Frosts, & Kovacs. They are assigned the task of scouting out the new home for the Cafe. Their first round assessment has been given to the Leadership Team. Sept. 10th is their next meeting. Got ideas? Call Rick - 877-5702

Thought.... I heard that someone commented to a friend that "the Cafe is in disarray, and "I wished they would talk to us about what's going on!" If I was sitting as an attender on a weekly basis, I can actually see how both of those opinions might be held.

Is the Cafe in disarray? No... but as a Leadership Team we have come to the conclusion that two things are occurring as a result of the fire. (1) God is pruning us right now for a new work. (2) We are starting over, and what the future will look like needs to be built upon a clean-slate.

In terms of "why won't they tell us what is going on?" ... we are trying to communicate. It is hard when attendance fluctuates to know if you are talking to the same crowd. Sept. 8th we will solicit input from the Ministry Leaders, and after that date we will be communicating more directly to the Congregation.

We know this is not an easy time for all of us.
I can't help continue to see the similarities with the Israelites in the Wilderness.
Here one thing I know for sure... God's is still at work, and Matthew's Cafe is still very much in His plans. Hang in there. We will make it.
