As you are aware the Coffee House is toast. Realistically, it will take months to rebuild.
The good news is that neither God nor the church is limited to a building. He is always with us and we are the church!!!
Here are some of the recent happenings:
At a meeting of leadership Friday night we decided that:
1. We will meet for prayer on Sunday (15th) at 9:00 and 10:45 in front of the cafe.
2. Then we will have a worship service at 1:00 as East Avenue Community Church on East Avenue. This will include Journey, The Hispanic Congregation, Celebration and Reaction
3. A phone tree is being set up to call everyone with the above information.
We are working with our insurance company about what to do next. Utilities and site services are being contacted.
Cathy is contacting ministries about space for their upcoming meetings.
She is also contacting people would rent/use the coffee house.
We would like no one to try to get into the burned out area until the Cause and Origin inspectors do their search through the rubble. They need to determine specific cause and responsibility for the fire. So please help them help us be not being in the burned out place. Cathy has some great pictures for you to view the damage (without having to smell the smoke!).
In a couple of week we will need help sorting through the rubble and cleaning up what can be salvaged. We will let everyone know when we can use help on the building.
Right now the biggest help you can offer is to one another. There are a number in our congregation who need personal touch. We have many who are struggling who need our loving arms around them. Now is the time to minister to one another. The building will take care of itself.
What a privilege it is to be part of this great body of followers of Jesus!
Keep loving and praying!

Love ya man.
Good job loving our body through this time, and being there for us.
Thanks.

I was drawn to Matthew's Cafe originally because it is the "building" where I met my husband 13 years ago (then Western Lights). When I first found Matthew's, a little over a year ago, I had a sandwich and before I knew it I was attending church the following Sunday...funny. My daughter and I had set out on a 2 month long "church-hopping" journey and we found Matthew's to be the right place for us. Yes, that is what I said, "Church - hopping." (You might be thinking, "bar-hopping to church-hopping.") Life has sent me on quite a journey. I have had some very special moments in this building. The spiritual feeling is safe and warm just like the feeling of being held close next to the one you love during that special slow song. I will really miss the place, but I am thankful for all of the people that God has put in my path, through this place.
I just want to add a "Thank You" to the East Ave. Community Church. Being arm in arm and praising God together in "your Place" was very powerful.
